Contact

Andrea Pistolesi has worked as a photographer for more than forty years. Born in Florence, he studied geography first, and the sequence explains the method: direct observation, field research and long engagement with a place were the discipline before they were the photography.

More than 180 titles published, with Touring Club Italiano, Mondadori, Bonechi and other publishers in Italy and abroad. Photographs and reportage have appeared in National Geographic Traveler, Time, Smithsonian, The New York Times, Travel + Leisure and Geo, and across four decades of the European editorial press.

Commissioned work includes the IVECO calendars of 2000 and 2001 and the Epson calendar of 2017; photography for the Paukan river cruise fleet in Myanmar and for hotels and resorts across Southeast Asia; and industrial commissions in travertine, wine and for IVECO. The work now extends into film — five documentaries made with Global Conservation, and the Asian Waters series.

Still photography, aerial and drone, and film. Based between Italy and Southeast Asia.

The five properties

Five properties, one body of work. The Record is the complete account — every project, story and film, made to be checked. Portfolio — this site — is the selection made for commissions. Archive is where photographs are licensed. Prints are the fine art editions of twelve. Books are the titles published under the PadPlaces imprint.

They are separate because the questions are separate: what has he done, can he do this job, may I use this image, may I own this print, may I read this book.
