Andrea Pistolesi has worked as a photographer since 1981. Born in Florence, he studied geography first, and the sequence explains the method: direct observation, field research and long engagement with a place were the discipline before they were the photography.

More than 180 titles published, with Touring Club Italiano, Mondadori, Bonechi and other publishers in Italy and abroad. Photographs and reportage have appeared in National Geographic Traveler, Time, Smithsonian, The New York Times, Travel + Leisure and Geo, and across four decades of the European editorial press.

Commissioned work includes the IVECO calendars of 2000 and 2001 and the Epson calendar of 2017; photography for the Paukan river cruise fleet in Myanmar and for hotels and resorts across Southeast Asia; and industrial commissions in travertine, wine and for IVECO. Since 2018 the work has extended into film — five documentaries for Global Conservation between 2020 and 2024, and the Asian Waters series.
